Soay Sheep For Sale
Between March and mid July 2008 we had 25 lambs born with eight sets of twins and eighteen ewe lambs!!! Our lambs this year were named for Silver Screen Stars - Gable & Lombard, Laurel & Hardy, Rooney, Taylor, Harlow and more. Naming is such fun!

When someone comes to us for a starter flock of American or British Soay we try to put a flock together that meets the buyers needs and preferences - and a flock that will be best for the Soay as well. Genetic diversity is always the first priority when selecting Soay for our starter flocks so the new flock owner has the best possible genetics to get off to a good start.

The Soay world is a small world and each farm and breeder has their own focus and areas of interest. We believe it is in the best interest of the Soay for all of us to work together - even if our focus and interests are not the same. To that end we encourage you to find a breeder that you are comfortable with, that cares about the sheep in the same way you do, and work to build an on-going relationship with. And have fun!

When we sell a Soay to a new client we have a booklet on our Soay experiences - a "guide book" so to speak, a ditty bag of goodies to get you started, and a copy of our Soay cookbook - Cooking for A Good Life ... while sharing that life with Soay sheep. Just little extras to share the joy of owning these sheep.

We don't have Soay to make money. We have Soay because the joy and benefit of having them is greater than the responsibilities of owning them. Will having a Soay flock fill your retirement fund? Probably not. Are they worth it? No question for us - YES!

We are now accepting reservation deposits for lambs that will be born in 2009. Please contact us ASAP if you are interested as we are able to accept only one more reservation for 2009.

Our American ewes are sold for between $250 and $350, depending on age, wool production, tendency to twin, polled, scurred, color, and genetics.

Our American rams are sold for between $200 and $350 depending on the same criteria. Older rams with more developed horns are more expensive.

The British ewes are $500 and the rams are $400.

For starter flock purchases - 3 or more sheep - we do offer a group sale price.

A $100 refundable deposit is required per animal, which is refunded only if we are not able to provide the lambs for some reason. If you are unable to accept delivery your deposit is applied to a reservation for the next season.

Your Soay can be picked up at our farm in Quilcene, Washington. We are also willing to deliver to many areas in WA and OR - or can meet in the middle. If we have to take the ferry - to get to eastern WA for instance - the buyer pays the ferry fee. If we deliver to your farm rather than meeting in the middle, you pay for the gas.
