British and American Soay Explained

Most visitors to our farm do not know that there are two distinct breeds of Soay living here. British and American Soay share some common characteristics, and American Soay do have British Soay ancestors someplace in their history - but they are distinct from one another.

For the best explanation of how these two breeds developed side by side in this country please refer to the excellent essays by Kathie Miller - the woman that was responsible for importing the first Soay to the United States and the one that has devoted over 10 years of her life and resources to making sure this threatened species has the best chance of survival.
