Polled Ewe

Button Horned Ewe

Scurred Ewe

Soay Ewe Horns
Soay ewes have no horns - called polled, small horns close to their heads - called buttons, small or shorter horns - called scurred, or long horns of many shapes.

Polled Soay ewes are becoming more scarce in the United States, and at this time there are no British Soay in this country that are polled - if you see a polled Soay ewe it is an American Soay. Breeders of British Soay are anxious for this genetic trait to exhibit in their lambs.

Horns, no horns, and everything in between - they are all beautiful and special and each flock owner has their own favorites.
